Elliot's tail is rather odd. I believe he was born this way given that the nerves are fully intact, although it really does feel like someone tied a knot in it. The vet believes that if it were straight, it would be about full length. The tail has about two inches of thicker bone at the base and then the vertebrae are curled around in a sort of knot with the top few vertebrae sticking up straight through the middle of the curl. I'll try to scan the x-ray. He has control of the tip which he wags and waves. Most of the time the tail sticks out flush with his body, like a pointer dog. But when he's happy, it is straight up and fluffed out!
